Farmington, Connecticut
The Home: A newly purchased townhouse with a beautiful finish level, but lacking personality
The Client: A busy corporate executive with a love of self-care
The Task: Find a purpose for a small and unused space in the center of the home, and make it feel unique to our client’s personality
The Result: Meditation Room
Details
A hand-made ceramic installation by Kiara Matos Studios evokes flowers drifting in a breeze. Grasscloth walls offer elevated texture, and newly installed spotlights create gentle shadows. A custom Japanese-inspired low table made of solid white oak with walnut wedges acts as a surface for incense and texts, finished with a vegetable-based non-VOC seal. Meditation cushions reupholstered in fabric from one of Italy’s oldest textile mills reinforce the true focus of this space: the practice.
